Tall, Dark & Dead
by Tate HallawayReview by Gayle Surrette Berkley Trade Paperback ISBN/ITEM#: 0425209725 Date: 02 May, 2006 List Price $14.00 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / Garnet is an interesting character. She is a witch and has powers but is reluctant to use them since it could bring the Vatican hit squad down on her. She wants to be lost in the crowd but dresses and acts to stand out. She's witty, loyal, scared, and when Lilith awakes can be incredibly scary. Garnet Lacey is very human and dealing with her emotional ups and downs. As a central character to carry the book she can be maddingly obtuse but you don't give up on her. The secondary characters are also well-developed -- as a reader you could believe these people exist in the world -- or maybe that's just my wacky world. Garnet is not the character who will kick your butt with physical power but she will stand up for what she believes in. So this is just the book you want if you're looking for less blood and splatter in a vampire romance. I'm looking forward to more from this author.
