Drummed out of the Space Academy due to an unfortunate "incident" Ky Vatta has to face both her personal failure and dashing the family's hopes for access to lucrative miltary contracts. Now sent to captain a ship on its trip to the salvage yard and out of the spotlight, she finds that she's not out of harms way, and you don't have to be in the Navy to wind up in a war.
