Star Trek Cross-Stitch is a fun craft book for Star Trek lovers and cross-stitch fans. Patterns are provided for varying difficulty levels and include all aspects of Star Trek.

Patterns are included for wall hangings, babys onesies, clothing decorations, bookmarks, Christmas ornaments, and more. Even if you are not already a cross-stitcher, it is a great beginner's craft because it is simple to learn and the necessary materials are inexpensive. Star Trek Cross-Stitch has complete instructions for the beginner and contains patterns at various difficulty levels so both beginners and experienced cross-stitchers will enjoy it.

Each project contains a color picture which makes following the patterns easy. The patterns are completely adaptable to other projects. If the many patterns for quotes already in the book still do not contain your favorite, the back of the book contains samples of alphabets and borders so a cross-stitcher can choose his/her special quote and prepare his/her own display.

The craft projects are great and the descriptions are witty. I was hoping for a little more Star Trek facts and information to accompany each design. There are some, but some of the projects are either inside humor to Star Trek fans or just stitching of the Star Trek characters or emblems. You really won't get much out of them if you are not already a fan.

Each project contains a quote and some of the projects talk about items like Ferengi lifestyles, the Federation Seal, and several others. My favorites, by far, are the Klingon-language wall hanging of "Home Sweet Home" or "Qonos Sweet Qonos" and the Klingon alphabet sampler. I cannot speak or read Klingon, but I find it both impressive and amusing that others can.

If you are a cross-stitcher, of course you want Star Trek Cross-Stitch for yourself. If you are not a cross-stitcher, you can always get it as a great gift for a friend who likes to stitch. You can always read through the book and see the photos and read the quotes before you give the book away. If you are lucky, your friend will stitch one of the projects for you!
