Flash Fiction Online for January 2017 arrived with new stories by Edward Ashton, Charles Payseur, and Amelia Aldred, and a reprint story by Ashley Kunsa.

Flash Fiction Online is a website with very short stories, updated every month. These are reviews for the new stories in their January 2017issue.

The first new story is "Vernal Fall" by Edward Ashton. -+- A man tries to rescue his daughter, Mara, when she falls into a raging current. Poignant.

The second new story is "A Lumberjack's Guide to Dryad Spotting" by Charles Payseur. -+- A lumberjack searches for a dryad for a very special reason. Nice little story.

The third new story is "Women's Work" by Ameila Aldred. -+- In Depression-era Evansville, Indiana, our narrator's mother has died, leaving many bills. She was a medium and could really talk to the dead. But she did not charge for it. Our narrator, who has inherited the gift, feels differently. Good story!

By the time you read this, next month's issue might be up, but this month's Flash Fiction Online should still be available. Look for it as a back issue or read any older issue. Check them out and make a donation on their website (link at the top of this review).
