Number 94 of Apex Magazine has new stories by John Hornor Jacobs and Mary Elizabeth Burroughsa, and reprints by Ken MacLeod and Caroline Yaochim, as well as other features.

Here we have the 94th issue of Apex Magazine, with two new stories, and other features.

The new fiction begins with "Luminaria" by John Hornor Jacobs. -+- Victoria Pemberton is turning 100 years old and is planning a birthday celebration to which she has invited her oldest friends. Her maidservant, Renie, has assisted her. But we get hints of something sinister as the story progresses. Nicely done with a good developing sense of unease.

The second new story is "Waste" by Mary Elizabeth Burroughs. -+- Our narrator is Eudora, "born with a tongue, but the others were not". She is of a group called bronzers who live on the edge of the Heap, scrounging for various treasures. But her golden masters care little for her and her siblings. What can she do to improve her life? Interesting.

Apex Magazine works in a unique way. If you are a subscriber, you get your issue when it's published. Otherwise, you wait a month. They are worth supporting, so check them out at their website (see link at the top of this review).
