First published in 1973, this welcome reissue by Tor of The Science Fiction Hall Of Fame, Volume Two A (Yes, there's a second half coming) has some of the best novellas published between 1895 (The Time Machine) and 1962 ("The Ballad of lost C'Mell") as picked by the membership of SFWA. Ben Bova's brief introduction explains the voting process. The stories are unencumbered with introductory matter - they don't need them, they stand on their own quite well.
