In Ghosts in the Snow, Dubric Bryerly is the law at Castle Faldorrah and throughout Lord Brushgar's lands.. It's his job to make sure that only the guilty are punished for their crimes and that justice is as fair as it can be with a caste system. But this is a dark ages sort of landscape and Dubric has only his analytical mind and sharp intelligence to help him. Nonetheless, he does the best he can with the knowledge he has amassed over the years. But he's never had to face a serial killer before, nor a murderer that has the intelligence to plan murders, cover the clues, and poke at Dubric's ability to solve crime. People are afraid and they suspect the killer could be the man who is supposed to protect them from harm. How can you do your job when no one trusts you?
