From official release/information:

Smoke and Mirrors by Tanya Huff is the second in a new series of novels featuring Tony Foster, who was a minor characters in her earlier series which revolved around Detective Vicki Nelson and Romance writer/Vampire Henry Fitzroy. Tony and Henry have now moved to Vancouver, and while Henry continues to play a role, the spotlight has shifted to Tony. Tony has gotten himself a job as Production Assistant at CB Productions, which makes a low budget TV program featuring a vampire detective (a fact that amuses Henry considerably). The job is horrible (most people quit within a couple of weeks), but Tony is good at it and likes where it has brought him ? mostly. In the first book in the series, Smoke and Shadows it brought him to the front lines of an alien invasion from another dimension. In Smoke and Mirrors I has brought him into the clutches of a haunted house that wants everybody dead.
