Fantasy series are often tied to one generation, ending when the protagonists reach their goal or are too old to adventure. There are some, however, that take a more dynastic view and Carol Berg's Daughter of Ancients moves into this realm with book four of The Bridge to D'Arnath series. This passing of the torch gives the book a bittersweet feeling, but it still has all the excitement and intrigue of the early works.
