The Real Space Cowboys (Apogee Books Space Series)
by Ed BuckbeeReview by Paul Haggerty Collector's Guide Publishing Inc Paperback ISBN/ITEM#: 1894959213 Date: 01 May, 2005 List Price $29.95 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Article / From official release/information: The Real Space Cowboys is a new history book by Apogee Space Books. Written by Ed Buckbee, a NASA old timer who worked with the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts (although always from the ground) and Wally Schirra, one of the original Mercury astronauts, the book is part history from Ed and Wally's remembrances, and part interview with the Mercury 7 astronauts (Al Shepard, Gus Grissom, John Glenn, Scott Carpenter, Wally Schirra, Gordon Cooper, and Deke Slayton) detailing what really was going on behind the scenes. It's part silly, part amazing, and part infuriating, but it's all part and parcel of what it took to get people into space and how those who love it have fought to keep the momentum going.
