Two strangers with special gifts find themselves prisoners and now they must work together to escape and save the world from an organization whose leader would use her gifts to subjugate and control everyone to run the world her way. Elena learns that she is not alone. There are others with gifts and talents she never dreamed could be real. Artur may have found someone he can trust and love. But first they must rescue the other prisoners who are being used for medical experiments and stop L'araigneé before it's too late.

The various plot threads are deftly handled and woven together so that when our major characters meet its no surprise and yet it doesn't feel contrived. Elena is a strong character and doesn't stand back waiting to be rescued. Artur is a rescuer at heart and must learn to trust and let others face danger to help. While Artur has become part of Dirk and Steele and that has changed his life around from committing crime to fighting crime, he has never questioned. Now he learns that even good can have a dark side and he must learn to accept and move on.

The action moves along quickly. You find yourself wishing your could help these characters out but you can only keep reading and turning the pages hoping it all turns out okay. There's something about reading about people who have no reason to trust each other taking a chance and working together for the good of others when it may cost them their lives that makes you feel good about the human race.
