Proven Guilty: A Novel of the Dresden Files
by Jim ButcherReview by Gayle Surrette Roc Hardcover Hardcover ISBN/ITEM#: 0451460855 Date: 02 May, 2006 List Price $23.95 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / This is truly an ensemble piece. Everyone must work together and trust each other to do their part or the plan will fail. There's always been tension between Charity Carpenter and Harry Dresden. Now we have some insight into that tension. Harry and Charity must work together in Michael's absence to save Molly's life. There's a lot going on in this story and much of it resonates with Harry's past. If you're a fan of the series you'll be drawn in and find that this is hard to put down (so start it Friday night and plan a weekend reading marathon). If this is your first Harry Dresden book, don't worry, there is enough backstory given to help you pick up the history of the characters. But when you finish, go back and read all the others. Each book gets better than the last as the characters grow and develop in concert with the events that have occurred in the books. The themes of family, friendship, love, and responsibility continue to cycle as understanding matures as the characters mature. It's a chance for a reader to think about the same ideals. I look forward to the next Dresden book. Read our Jim Butcher Interview. |
