If you've read my editorials at all, you know by now that I'm of the opinion that we're living in a future that's more like the one conceived in the Golden Age of SF, that is back in the middle of the last century, than it's not. But what about the next fifty years? What should we be hoping to accomplish, and what should we fear? Is Science Fiction still leading the way by daring to dream, or has it taken up the conservative role of muttering doom, doom, doom and gloom. Unsurprisingly, I still believe in the future, but it has to be free to choose itself, not be tied to dreams of yesteryear.
