From official release/information:

When we first meet Josan, one of the protagonists of Patricia Bray's latest novel, it is a dark and stormy night and Josan is working as a lighthouse keeper in a remote fishing village at the edge of the Ikarian kingdom. Josan is a member of the Learned Brethren, a scholarly order of monks. While the lighthouse and Josan survive the storm, his cottage was not so lucky. As Josan and the villager assess the storm damage, the reader is introduced to another of the main protagonists, Lady Ysobel Flordelis of the Seddonian Federation, a seagoing nation of traders. Lady Ysobel is a trader with several ships and her own Trade House and is newly appointed Trade Representative to the Ikarian Empire.
