Doppelganger
by Marie BrennanReview by Steve Sawicki Warner Books Mass Market ISBN/ITEM#: 0446616982 Date: 01 April, 2006 List Price $6.99 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / To Brennan's credit, the plot is not that simple. There are internal politics at work on all ends and both Miryo and her twin, Mirage, are seeming to be played against each other by all sides. Not everyone knows everything which just makes matters more interesting. The plotting is well done, fast paced and full of twists. The characters are interesting, although Miryo is quite whimpy and becomes annoying at times. I also had a bit of a struggle imagining this young woman actually heading out to murder her twin. It think alternate seeds needed to be planted earlier as the scenes where she prepares to try to kill her bounty hunter clone read as somewhat silly. Getting beyond that however, you find a well written book which is telling an interesting story. There is already a sequel scheduled and it will be interesting to see what Brennan does with this world.
