They feel they were being punished being sent to Earth. Camille is a witch whose spells just never quite work the way they should. Delilah is a were-cat but instead of a lion or tiger, she turns into a small tabby kitten. Menolly was captured, tortured, and turned into a vampire and she's still learning to cope with the changes and to pull her fragile ego together again. Now they are faced with rogue demons loose on Seattle, killing OIA agents and seeking the spirit seals. The word from home is that the sister's are on their own and don't bother us.

These are real sisters with their own interpersonal problems. Away from home, they're trying to make the best of it only to find that they may be the only force that can save Earth and Otherworld from an invasion of demons. To do that they have to find the nine spirit seals and make sure that the demon Shadow Wing never gets them; not even one because it would give him too much power. So they must find Tom Lane first before the demons can take the seal from him. And by the way there are three demons trying to kill them before they can cause any problems.

Galenorn can comfortably join the ranks of Kim Harrison, Laurell Hamilton, and the others who have come forth with sexy, smarty, sassy heroines. Camille, Delilah, and Menolly may be less violent but they get the job done and manage to have complicated sex lives and relationships that make them seem like someone who might live in our neighborhood -- provided your neighborhood has fairies, giants, dryads, and the occasional dragon and yokai-kitsune.

This is the first in a series. There are nine spirit seals that must be found and protected and this book covers the finding of the first seal. Hopefully, we'll have eight more novels to enjoy and get to know the D'Artigo sisters.
