Many science fiction authors will mention movies that have impacted their writing. Among those often mentioned is the film Forbidden Planet, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Peter Crowther has tapped into that fire in his new anthology Forbidden Planets, which contains a dozen stories inspired by film. In the introduction, Ray Bradbury (who passed up the chance to write the screenplay for the movie) points out these are tales of "places where Man isn't greeted with open arms. Open jaws, perhaps . . . "
