It begins so simply. Most of the information is deduced from the clues and you keep reading and turning pages. Before you know it you're hooked and up all night wondering what happened to your resolve to just read a few pages.

The Lakewalker patrol is out looking for a malice infestation or as the farmers call it a blight bogle. Dag is following an escaped mud-man when he runs into Fawn. Once we get a chance to see and experience things from Dag's point of view, we have a fully three-dimensional picture of this world, society and people. However, we only have these two people's views so our perception is filtered through their experiences.

As the first book in a series, The Sharing Knife: Beguilement introduces us to Fawn and Dag and their world. Don't worry. It's not all introduction, there's a great story here too as Fawn comes to grips with who she is and who she wishes to become. Dag gains insight into his personal demons and reaches out for what he wants for himself for a change.

The main problem is now I've got to wait for book 2 and so forth. I want to know what happens to these people I came to care about. Any book you can close and sigh because you see a long wait for your next visit in their world is naturally highly recommended.
