Natalie Lindstrom is struggling to make ends meet by painting with the help of dead masters. Of course, for Natalie that doesn't mean the huge sums that 'official' violets working in the Arts Division of NAACC (North American Afterlife Communications Corp.) get because she can't claim it's an original by the dead painter. So, while her's sell for thousands instead of millions it does keep her daughter in therapy, her father's hospital bills paid up and the mortgage on the house paid. Then she's offered a very good deal by a man who says he can get her 'official' status as a violet but able to set her own rules. Natalie turns him down because this deal has strings even if she can't see them. And, it doesn't take long before she finds out that Evan Markham, the Violet Killer, is loose and looking for her and her daughter.
