From official release/information:

Not every author writes well in both novel and short story format. Fortunately, this is not a problem for Alexander C. Irvine. While probably best known for his novels A Scattering of Jades, One King, One Soldier, and The Narrows, his short fiction has also garnered a fair amount of attention, appearing in well-known genre magazines such as Fantasy & Science Fiction and Asimov's, as well as other less well-known publications. Now Night Shade Books has given Irvine's fans a lovely holiday present with the publication of Pictures From An Expedition, which collects 12 of Irvine's previously published short stories as well as one new story, "Clownfish." The stories encompass a wide range of themes and settings. Some involve historic figures and time periods, others have more purely fantastic or science fictional settings.
