Talented Australian author Joel Shepherd already has his first trilogy out in Australia, but it's only now reaching US shores, thanks to Pyr. His Cassandra Kresnov series about an artificial soldier who goes AWOL when she realizes that war isn't worth dying for and then gets caught up in a cause of her own is a terrific piece of cyborg and AI strewn SF.
