There seemed to be a substantial number of people at Capclave this year. There were people talking in the halls, in the dealers room, while standing to get autographs, while looking at the items in the silent auction, and between panels sessions. In other words, many people got to meet and talk to other fans and professionals throughout the weekend. The programming, while a bit sparse, was an interesting mix of topics and workshops. There was a writer's workshop, reading workshop (for those doing live readings), and a reviewer's workshop. There were several science panels as well as the literary and fun panels. And of course there were many reading throughout the weekend. I found the panel on Building a Space Faring Civilization to be challenging, interesting, and very thought provoking. A later panel on LibraryThing.com to be very informative with examples of how the on-line site works and the many possible helpful uses it can be to many of us bookaholics. Saturday evening ended with a formal receptions co-hosted by the Washington Science Fiction Association/Capclave and SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America) which was naturally followed by a number of parties. A fun time had by all.
