I'm the Vampire, That's Why
by Michele BardsleyReview by Gayle Surrette Signet Paperback ISBN/ITEM#: 0451219376 Date: 05 September, 2006 List Price $6.99 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / Broken Heart, Oklahoma is a very small town and aptly named. The population had been slowly draining away for years. But it came as a surprise that nearly the entire town had been bought up by a conglomerate that planned a safe haven for vampires and others creatures of the night, or at least the twilight. If you can just let go of all your logic circuits, this is charmingly off the wall. The love interest is sexy and a vamp -- what more could you want. At first, I wanted the background to make sense. I mean a town of a few thousand and no one noticed that everyone was selling out and moving away. I originally come from a town of three thousand and believe me if people started selling you heard about it. If more than ten people sold and moved out of town it would make the front page of the weekly paper. But I took a deep breath and calmed down and said it's fiction -- relax and enjoy. Then I could really enjoy the silliness of a vampire mother, who sleeps all day, trying to raise two kids. Some of the solutions that are put in place for the town and its residents are spot on logical for the premise. Think about it -- how could it work otherwise than to match schedules among other solutions. So, if you're looking for some light entertainment with a playful spin on the old vampire/werewolf tropes -- this is it. Read and enjoy.
