by Patrick CarmanReview by Gayle Surrette Scholastic Press Hardcover ISBN/ITEM#: 9780545060455 Date: 01 August 2009 List Price $12.99 Amazon US / Amazon UK / Show Official Info / The Black Circle, Book 6 of The 39 Clues, takes Amy and Dan Cahill to Russia. On the trail of another clue, they learn that nothing is what it seems and that they can find help in very unusual places.
Amy and Dan have landed in Russia with only a vague idea of where to look. When they manage to get a handle on where to find the clues that will lead them to another of the 39 clues, they realize that they can't do it themselves. They need help and they don't know who to trust. Patrick Carman manages to flesh out the character of Amy and Dan a bit more. He also moves the plot along at a galloping romp that can leave a reader gasping for air. As usual, a lot of history is covered in the book, this time concerning the last of the Russian royal family and the Anastasia rumors, myths, and historical facts. How does it all fit together? How do Amy and Dan manage to get the clue and stay alive to advance to the next book? Well, you'll need to read about it yourself. Needless to say, the story is fast paced, filled with hints and clues, and then there's the new cards in the front cover. The story continues in In Too Deep.
