Bloody Awful by Georgia Evans continues the story of Nazi vampire saboteurs begun in Bloody Good and features the group of Others, people with special abilities. In Bloody Awful set during World War II in the village of Brytewood, she focuses on Gloria Prewit, District Nurse and werefox, and Andrew Barron, supervisor of the hush-hush munitions factory near the village. When Andrew, driving after dark with shaded lights, accidentally knocks Gloria off her bicycle and into a ditch, she suffers a broken ankle. He rushes her to the hospital and refuses to leave her side.

In Bloody Good, the doctor and Devon Pixie, Alice Doyle, destroyed Eiche, one of four vampires. Alice knows of one other, but is unaware of the total number. With their earlier plan foiled, the Nazis, determined to cause havoc, continue with their plans to destroy the factory, but first must find the killer of their colleague.

The vampires, upset over Eiche's death, send Bloch, called Block, to Brytewood as the new baker with instructions to find and eliminate Eiche's killer. The villagers welcome Block with open arms only too glad to have fresh bread again. At first no one suspects him until Howell Pendragon, shape shifter and Other, encounters him. Block, thirsting for blood, also tries to attack Sam Worleigh, the local grocer, but fails.

Shaken at his narrow escape, Sam confides in Helen Burrows, Alice's grandmother and Devon Pixie. She urges him join with the Others to defeat the vampire. He refuses.

Meanwhile Andrew and Gloria pursue romance and hot sex. Andrew is human and has never believed in Others. She worries how he will react when she reveals her true nature.

The villagers love Block's bread, but not him. He in turn resents Weiss, the vampire in charge, who orders him to lay flares for bombing the munitions site. Meanwhile, he suspects Alice of the murder of Eiche.

Ensuring they have identified the right man as the vampire, the Others combine efforts. However, Gloria and Andrew still find time to indulge in satisfying their urges. Alice focuses on finding silk for her wedding gown.

The vampires exhibit nastiness and arrogance toward the British and the villages in particular. They regard them as food and information sources to exploit. By the end, two vampires survive, so Evans lays the ground for the third volume, Bloody Right.
